Posted in 1910, this industrial postcard documents the Vance Redwood Lumber Company mill complex in Samoa, California, during the height of Northern California redwood production.

Early twentieth-century lumber mill postcards captured the enormous scale of the Pacific Coast timber industry at a time when Humboldt Bay and surrounding communities were central to American redwood harvesting and export. Industrial scenes from Samoa remain highly collectible because they preserve working mill environments, log yards, smokestacks, and processing facilities that shaped the economy of coastal Northern California. These cards also served as promotional and documentary records for rapidly growing industrial towns tied to railroads, shipping, and timber commerce.

The image shows extensive log storage in the foreground alongside mill buildings, smokestacks, elevated conveyor structures, and a large water tank associated with the Vance Redwood Lumber Company operation in Samoa. The reverse features a 1910 Humboldt County postmark, one-cent Benjamin Franklin stamp, and handwritten correspondence, adding authentic postal history appeal. Industrial redwood mill postcards with clearly identified company names are especially desirable among collectors of California logging, lumber industry history, and Humboldt County ephemera.
