This 1947 real photo postcard from Brockway, California captures a staged winter holiday display featuring a white camel and child in a snow-covered setting, mailed during the postwar era.
Brockway, located along the north shore of Lake Tahoe, developed during the early twentieth century as a seasonal mountain community known for snowbound winters and resort culture. Holiday imagery from Sierra towns often blended novelty, spectacle, and alpine atmosphere, with locally arranged displays photographed for seasonal greeting cards and mailed to family and friends as regional keepsakes.
The image shows a child standing beside a white camel positioned atop sculpted snow, with Merry Christmas written directly in the lower left of the photograph. The dramatic contrast and tonal depth are characteristic of real photo postcard production, and the reverse is postmarked 1947 with divided back format and DPO paper marking.
