Postmarked in 1915, this postcard captures Creek Road in Southold on Long Island, New York, during a period when the North Fork remained largely agricultural and residential in character.

Southold, one of the oldest English settlements in New York, developed around maritime trade, farming, and quiet village life rather than dense urban expansion. By the early twentieth century, many Long Island communities still featured unpaved, tree-lined roads bordered by wood-frame homes and modest landscaping. Such images were commonly issued as local view cards, emphasizing rural tranquility and seasonal appeal to visitors and relatives in the city.
