This 1913 postcard features a novelty pennant design for Cherryvale, Kansas, combining a souvenir banner graphic with a playful romantic figure scene typical of early twentieth-century postcard humor.

Small-town souvenir postcards became widely popular during the divided-back era, when publishers produced creative designs that mixed typography, novelty graphics, and staged photographic elements. Pennant postcards were especially common, using a triangular banner motif similar to collegiate or town souvenir flags to highlight the place name. These designs were often paired with lighthearted captions or romantic imagery intended to make the card memorable for both senders and recipients.

The card displays a bright red pennant labeled Cherryvale extending from a decorative flagpole, accompanied by the printed message We’re Having a Jolly Time in Cherryvale Better Come Too. At the right side of the composition, a couple stands together in an affectionate pose, adding a humorous social element to the souvenir theme. The postcard was mailed in 1913 and features the divided-back format used for message and address during the early twentieth century.
