This 1905 postcard documents The Boardwalk at Brandywine Springs, a popular amusement and excursion destination near Wilmington, Delaware during the early twentieth century.

Brandywine Springs operated as a trolley park serving Wilmington residents seeking leisure beyond the urban core. Developed along the Brandywine River valley, the grounds included pavilions, rides, and seasonal attractions typical of turn-of-the-century recreation parks. Such sites reflected the expansion of electric streetcar lines that made day trips accessible to working- and middle-class visitors.

The image shows a long wooden pavilion structure with a series of broad arches facing the boardwalk, flanked by additional covered sections. Bare trees line the foreground, and utility poles run parallel to the walkway. Printed captioning at the lower edge reads The Boardwalk, Brandywine Springs, while the undivided back format and postmark support its early date.
