This postcard was printed in the 1910s and shows a scenic landscape view of Platte Canon near Shawnee, Colorado.

Platte Canon, carved by the South Platte River west of Denver, became a popular scenic destination during the early twentieth century as rail lines and wagon roads made the mountain corridor more accessible to travelers. The canyon’s mix of forested slopes, river valleys, and small mountain settlements attracted tourists seeking alpine scenery and recreation in the Colorado Front Range.

The card presents a panoramic landscape showing the South Platte River in the foreground with agricultural fields and scattered buildings across the valley floor near Shawnee. Forested hills and mountain ridges rise behind the settlement, while the caption printed along the lower margin reads Shawnee Colorado Platte Canon. The reverse features a divided postcard back format typical of postcards produced during the early twentieth century.
