This 1909 postcard documents Tehama Street in Willows, California, during the town’s early twentieth-century commercial expansion in the Sacramento Valley.
The view looks down a broad dirt main street lined with wood-frame and brick storefronts, each fronted by extended canvas awnings that define the rhythm of the business block. A large painted wall sign advertising Boll’s Cut Prices dominates one façade, while a horse stands near the boardwalk edge, reinforcing the transitional character of small-town transportation at the time. The receding perspective draws the eye toward a distant tower structure at the far end of the street, creating depth and a clear record of the built environment as it appeared in the first decade of the century.
The divided back format corresponds to the 1907–1915 period, and the card is postmarked 1909, anchoring it firmly within Willows’ formative commercial era.
