This 1910 divided-back postcard commemorates the Golden Jubilee of the University of California in Berkeley, marking the fiftieth anniversary celebrations held May 14–18, 1910.
The University of California’s Golden Jubilee represented a milestone in the institution’s development from its 1860s founding into a major West Coast academic center. Anniversary events brought together alumni, faculty, and civic leaders, reinforcing Berkeley’s expanding identity as an educational and cultural hub. Commemorative postcards such as this example functioned as both souvenirs and promotional artifacts tied to the celebration.
The design features an ornate border with classical decorative elements framing the printed title Golden Jubilee University of California Berkeley. A vertical panel at left lists the May 14–18, 1910 dates alongside the founding reference, while a vignette image of Doe Library appears beneath a circular emblem at the upper corner. The reverse shows a divided-back layout with postal markings confirming period circulation.
