This photograph was taken in February 1955 and shows a leopard inside a barred enclosure at the King Bros Circus winter quarters.

Leopards were commonly exhibited by traveling circuses as part of the menagerie and often appeared in big-cat training acts alongside lions and other predators. During the winter quarters period these animals were typically housed in permanent indoor cages where they could be fed, maintained, and prepared for the upcoming touring season.

The image features a leopard standing behind vertical iron bars inside a metal cage lined with straw bedding. The animal’s distinctive rosette coat pattern is clearly visible as it lowers its head toward the ground. Structural cage partitions and the interior framework of the building appear behind the enclosure, consistent with other animal housing areas seen in this February 1955 King Bros Circus photograph series. The square scalloped-edge snapshot carries the FEB 55 date marking along the border and matches the format of the other photographs in this documented winter quarters group.
