Printed during the 1890s, this J and P Coats trade card presents spool cotton through a playful infant figure posed atop a large thread spool.

Late nineteenth-century advertising often used children to convey charm, innocence, and energy, pairing domestic products with lively, memorable imagery. Bright color contrasts and bold lettering reinforced brand recognition, while whimsical scenes helped distinguish competing thread makers in a crowded marketplace.

The front features a child in a red-accented outfit balancing on a spool of J and P Coats Best Six Cord cotton while holding small drum mallets, visually echoing the circular spool form. The reverse displays a detailed blue-ink advertisement centered on a large spool illustration, surrounded by decorative typography promoting white, black, and colored thread for hand and machine sewing. The item shown in the listing is the exact item the collector will receive.

We have tens of thousands of items to choose from. Shipping will always be combined (or refunded) to save you as much money as possible. Please contact us with any questions, or visit our store page for specifics.
