This photograph was taken in 1955 and shows performers standing on a decorative band wagon used in the Mickey Mouse Club Circus during Disneyland’s first operating season in Anaheim, California.

The Mickey Mouse Club Circus was an early live attraction at Disneyland connected to the popular television program The Mickey Mouse Club. The production incorporated many visual elements borrowed from traditional American circus pageantry, including ornate parade wagons, horse teams, and themed tableau vehicles that echoed nineteenth-century circus procession wagons. These elaborate wagons helped create the spectacle and theatrical atmosphere associated with historic circus parades.

The image shows performers standing on an elaborate swan-themed band wagon decorated with sculptural figures, including swans, sea creatures, and classical-style figures arranged along the wagon panels. Several performers in costume are visible atop the wagon as they prepare the vehicle for use in the circus production. The handwritten note on the reverse identifies the subject as a band wagon photographed at Disneyland in 1955.
