This photograph was taken in 1955 and shows an animal cage wagon pulled by a mule team during the first operating season of the Mickey Mouse Club Circus at Disneyland in Anaheim, California.

The Mickey Mouse Club Circus was one of Disneyland’s earliest live entertainment productions and was associated with the nationally broadcast television program The Mickey Mouse Club. The attraction incorporated traditional circus visual elements including parade wagons, animal cages, horse and mule teams, and decorative vehicles modeled after those historically used by American traveling circuses. These wagons formed part of the operational equipment supporting the circus attraction.

The image shows a barred cage wagon pulled by a team of mules along a paved roadway, with a driver seated atop the wagon. The vehicle features ornamental trim along the roofline and panel edges typical of circus transport wagons. In the background, graded embankments, eucalyptus trees, and utility poles reflect the undeveloped landscape surrounding Disneyland during its inaugural year as the park’s infrastructure was still taking shape.
