This June 23, 1900 billhead from Butte, Montana records a purchase from Butte Sewer Pipe & Tile Company during the city’s peak mining-era expansion.

At the turn of the century, Butte stood as one of the most industrialized mining centers in the American West, with rapid urban development demanding sewer pipe, tile, brick, lime, cement, and related building materials. Companies supplying vitrified sewer pipe and pressed brick played a direct role in shaping municipal infrastructure tied to copper mining wealth.

The printed letterhead features a detailed illustration of a large vitrified sewer pipe and advertises sewer pipe, pressed and common brick, coal, lime, floor and drain tile, cement, plaster, hair, fire brick, and fire clay, with the office noted at 25 West Granite Street. The handwritten entry lists 3 bbls Portland Cement at 5.50, totaling 16.50, with the date stamped June 23, 1900, clearly visible in the upper right.

The item shown in the listing is the exact item the collector will receive. We have tens of thousands of items to choose from. Shipping will always be combined or refunded to save you as much money as possible. Please contact us with any questions, or visit our store page for specifics.
