In July 1967, Louisville photographer Bill Rhodes documented the Arthur Bros Circus parade, capturing a horse-drawn lion cage wagon moving through city streets ahead of the circus performances.

Arthur Brothers Circus traveled widely across the Midwest and South during the mid twentieth century, maintaining the long-standing circus tradition of public street parades that introduced the show to each town. These processions featured decorated wagons, animal cages, performers, and mounted handlers, presenting the spectacle of the circus before audiences even reached the showgrounds.

The photograph shows a large barred animal cage wagon numbered 61, pulled by a team of draft horses and guided by drivers seated atop the wagon seat. A lion is visible inside the cage while circus staff ride on horseback alongside the procession. Spectators gather behind rope barriers along the parade route while large circus tents and equipment appear in the background near the showgrounds. A fence line behind the crowd displays a Private Property No Parking sign. A stamp on the reverse identifies the image as an Original Photo by Bill Rhodes of Louisville, Kentucky, dated Jul 67, accompanied by a reproduction prohibition notice.
