This billhead was issued in 1902 by the Shadinger Printing Company of Abilene, Kansas, a commercial job printer providing printed materials for businesses and institutions in central Kansas.

Local job printing offices were essential to business and civic life in American towns during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Printers produced letterheads, bank forms, invoices, folios, advertising materials, and other documents used by merchants, banks, and municipal offices. Abilene, an established railroad and agricultural center in Kansas, supported a range of small printing firms serving regional commercial needs.

The document features the printed letterhead of Shadinger Printing Co. identified as Exclusive Job Printers and noting their printing office in central Kansas. The invoice is dated December 2, 1902 and is made out to the Peoples Bank of Pratt, Kansas. Handwritten entries list printing work for folio books and related materials, with pricing and totals recorded in the accounting columns typical of commercial printing invoices of the period.
