This late nineteenth-century Victorian trade card advertises Crosman Bros. flower and vegetable seeds of Rochester, New York, featuring a whimsical oversized cabbage harvest scene tied to agricultural seed marketing.

Trade cards issued by seed merchants during the Victorian era often combined exaggerated agricultural imagery with colorful chromolithography to promote product quality and abundance. Rochester, New York emerged as an important regional center for seed distribution and horticultural commerce during the period, with companies competing through visually memorable advertising aimed at gardeners, farmers, and general store customers.

The illustrated front shows oxen pulling an enormous cabbage wagon labeled Crosman’s Premium Flat Dutch Cabbage beneath bold Crosman Bro’s Seeds lettering and established 1840 branding. The reverse identifies Crosman Brothers as wholesale seed merchants, growers, and importers located at 300 Monroe Avenue in Rochester, New York, with promotional text encouraging buyers to plant Crosman Bros. garden seeds. Light age toning, scattered spotting, and minor corner wear consistent with Victorian trade cards are visible throughout.
